Radio Theatre presents another thrilling mystery with Father Gilbert. When Louis Gilbert turned in his detective badge to become an Anglican priest, he thought his days of solving difficult mysteries were over. Now, as the vicar of an ancient church in a small English village, Gilbert finds himself as the center of one strange mystery after another. And he brings to each one his unique combination of streetwise smarts and spiritual intuition.

What is Radio Theatre? Radio Theatre is the bridge between film and audio books in the format of a dramatized, purely acoustic performance. Unmatched, Focus on the Family?s Radio Theatre is award winning with performances from internationally acclaimed actors. More than an audio book, it is a movie that plays on the biggest screen of all... your imagination.

Base on the Biblical admonition: Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath.

Posted by Ken N. on Mar 2nd 2020

The premise. A son, who lives in slavish fear of his father, in a misguided attempt to please his father, buys answers to a doctor's examination in order to pass and please his father, but then get's himself in trouble when the guy he bought them from decides to blackmail him. The episode winds down with the good-will expectation of the priest that both father and son will reconcile because of the goodness that is within them. - That detail would be hard to develop as a believable, enjoyable and brief narrative. A flaw: A former detective-turned-priest has a new by-line: I used to look at the evidence, but now I look at the heart. (Sorry, the God's word tells us explicitly what our hearts are like, and, only God can see what our hearts our like) The performance. Overall, considering this was the first episode, it went off relatively well. There were a few times where there should have been a longer pause in order to convey a change of scene.

    Listen and Enjoy

The Father Gilbert Mystery series became a favorite of mine many years ago. The quality and audio performance is superior. I love the mystery genre but often it is difficult to find one without the promiscuous or lewd suggestions or innuendos. The Father Gilbert Mystery series is clean and I am free to enjoy this wonderful audio drama. I would like to recommend that while the content is clean it is also mature and may not be appropriate for children.

    Very well done and entertaining...

I listened to Father Gilvert's Mystery 1 while I was making supper today and found it very entertaining and well done. Later in the day I checked to see if there were more episodes and how much they were. Happy to find out that there are several more and they are affordable at $5 each! I will be listening to another one soon.
