Teaching Children to Celebrate Racial and Cultural Diversity

Trillia Newbell and Dr. Danny Huerta want to help Christian families celebrate racial and cultural diversity. The Bible is filled with verses that acknowledge God's love and reconciliation of ALL peoples – every nation, tribe and tongue will worship God in Heaven. Thus, Christian families need to pursue diversity and learning more about other races and cultures.

Parents can help their kids by recognizing their own racial/cultural bias. Also, don’t be embarrassed by a child's natural curiosity about someone who's different from them; use that opportunity to research and learn more about other cultures and races.

On this Focus on the Family broadcast, Trillia describes some of the racial prejudice she and her parents have experienced. Danny describes the difficult transition he faced in moving from Mexico to the United States. Trillia and Danny conclude with some practical suggestions about how families can seek to become more diverse.
