Allison Pittman is a self-proclaimed "Dickens enthusiast" who loves the many spiritual themes that can be found in Charles Dickens' classic novel "A Christmas Carol," and she often uses this book to teach her students about worldview. On this Focus on the Family broadcast, Allison shares some insightful and inspirational parallels between "A Christmas Carol" and the Bible. For example, she explains how the tragic story of Marley mirrors the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, and how Scrooge's vision of his lonely, tragic death offers a rich contrast to Jesus' teaching about storing up treasures in Heaven. Allison also discusses her own faith journey of never linking Christmas to her upbringing in the Church, and how she became a prodigal as a young woman. But much like Scrooge, she eventually rediscovered her faith and was redeemed and reconciled with God. She concludes by sharing some practical advice with parents about prioritizing family time and experiences at Christmas rather than getting caught up with the culture's emphasis on gifts and decorations.
