During her third pregnancy, Shauna Amick learned that her baby girl Sarah would have Down Syndrome and a life-threatening heart defect. Shauna's doctors urged her to terminate the pregnancy, but she steadfastly refused to do so as she stood firm on the Word of God and her strong pro-life convictions. That's not to say, though, that Shauna didn't wrestle with God over Sarah's disability and pray for a miraculous reversal of that condition. But God comforted and encouraged Shauna in many ways, giving her the strength to face her challenges, which included the devastating prospect of Sarah's death after her open heart surgery when she was only six months old.
Today, Sarah is a healthy, spunky teenager who's joyful, full of faith, and is always the first to volunteer to pray at church despite her struggles with her language skills. On this Focus on the Family broadcast, Saundra explains how she is thankful to God for creating Sarah in a unique way that richly blesses everyone around her and brings glory to His name.
