The “On Demand” version of the Focus Marriage Model Workshop is a convenient way for interested marriage helpers to learn about the Focus Marriage Model and Focus Marital Therapy (FMT). This is a digital version of a live filmed workshop which can be downloaded with purchase. The Focus Marriage Model Introductory Workshop provides trainees with all the essential elements of the Focus Marriage Model which informs FMT. A CEU-qualified version of the workshop is available for $10 more and includes credit for 6 CEUs.
What is Focus Marital Therapy (FMT)?
FMT is the approach to working with distressed married couples developed by Robert S. Paul and his colleagues in the Hope Restored Marriage Intensive Therapy Program at Focus on the Family. Over the years it has been used and successfully adapted by many marriage helpers in numerous counseling settings. The 6-hour workshop utilizes video presentations of actual FMT sessions and provides in depth description of the essential elements of the Focus Marriage Model and Focus Marital Therapy.
How long is the workshop?
This “On-Demand” version has been divided into 8 sessions, and can be watched at one time or over time. The workshop features Robert S. Paul and his associate Robert K. Burbee describing the methods and insights applied in FMT. This workshop along with the text, Restoring Hope: An Integrative Approach to Marital Therapy are the best resources to be introduced to the essential concepts and methods of FMT.

Vice President of the Focus on the Family Marriage Institute
Robert is one of the primary creators of Focus on the Family’s Hope Restored Marriage Intensive counseling programs and Focus Marital Therapy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Evangel University, his master’s degree from Georgia State University, as well as a Diploma in Christian Counseling and an honorary doctorate from Psychological Studies Institute. He holds licenses in the states of Missouri, Georgia, Michigan, and Texas as a Professional Counselor. He is an accomplished speaker who presents regularly at professional conferences and enrichment events both nationally and internationally. He has appeared on numerous radio and television programs and has co-authored six books.

Bob has more than 37 years of experience as a licensed psychologist working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. As one of FMI’s therapists, Bob leads both Group and Private Marriage Intensives. In addition to his therapy responsibilities, Bob provides leadership in training other therapists in Focus Marital Therapy. He speaks frequently to groups on marital and family topics in seminars, retreats, and workshops. Bob and his wife, Mary Jo, are active in their church contributing to children and family ministries. Bob and Mary Jo have four grown children and reside in Springfield, Missouri.
